KL Rahul failed to impress with the bat in the opening Twenty20 International (T20I) of the five-match series between India and England on Friday, but the Indian batsman denied Jose Butler a certain six during the England chase. Made a great effort. While spectators can register an eight-wicket win at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, fans on Twitter praised Rahul for his sensational fielding on the boundary ropes. In the fourth over of England’s chase, Butler derailed Axar Patel and smashed him over his head but did not get it all. Rahul, who was stationed deep, dived backwards, caught the ball and, before hitting the ground, threw the ball back into the playing field as England scored two runs.
Fans took to Twitter to salute KL Rahul for his brilliant effort.

The day and the match, however, belonged to England as the visitors easily won the series 1-0, chasing a target of 125 runs in just 15.3 overs.
England had won the toss, and was selected for the region.
In the second over of the match, Joffra Archer caught Rahul at stump and delivered a wide delivery. India captain Virat Kohli was caught in the next over by Adil Rashid, taking an easy catch at mid-off to Chris Jordan.
Things went from bad to worse as Shikhar Dhawan played a shot off Mark Wood and gave India the victory by scoring 20 runs for three in five overs. Shreyas Iyer scored a brilliant half-century but India never really topped England’s bowling and were dismissed for 124 for seven in 20 overs.
Promoted
Jason Roy and Jose Butler started fast. Butler fell to Yuzvendra Chahal for 28, while Roy was dismissed by Washington Sundar for 49, but by that time the damage had been done.
David Malan and Johnny Bairstow ensured that England no longer lost wickets as they achieved the target with 4.3 overs remaining.
