India suffered two injuries during the first ODI against England in Pune as Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma were injured on the field. BCCI said in a tweet, Iyer “felled” his left shoulder while fielding in the eighth over of the innings, after which he walked off the field in the second innings. “He has taken for further scans and will not take any further part in the game,” the tweet read further. Iyer was seen suffering in pain after trying to put the ball on his back on the field. The physio had to be called on the field and the Indian batsman was helped out of the park. The BCCI said that Rohit was hit on the right elbow while batting in the first innings, adding: “He will not take the field.”

Iyer finished the day with a bat on Tuesday, as he scored just 6 runs off 9 balls, while India scored 317 for 5 after telling England to bat.

Krunal Pandya (58 *) and KL Rahul (62 *) shared an unbeaten 112-run partnership for the sixth wicket to take India across 300.

Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan (98) missed out on a century and Virat Kohli scored 56 to put India to death.

Rohit was also under control, scoring only 28 runs in 42 balls and forming an early 64-run partnership with Dhawan.

In this match, Krunal also scored the fastest fifty in just 26 balls in 50 balls on ODI debut.

He broke up during an interview during the innings break after which his elder brother and India teammate Hardik Pandya was seen comforting Krunal.

Krunal and Hardik lost their father Himanshu Pandya in January this year.
