India has been fined for maintaining slow over-pace in the second T20 International against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a release, “India has been fined 20 per cent of the match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in the second T20I in Ahmedabad on Sunday.” The ICC said that India was reduced to less than the target after taking time allowances. India captain Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanction.

India defeated England by 7 wickets in the match to tie the five-match series 1–1.

A good bowling performance put India at 164 for England, with Jason Roy top-scoring for the visitors with 46.

Despite KL Rahul’s dismissal in the very first over, India were clinical in the chase. Debutant Ishan Kishan, opening in place of Shikhar Dhawan, started fast and attacked the England bowlers to reduce the attack rate.

India were in control by the time he fell for 56 off 32 balls, with Kohli set at the other end.

Rishabh Pant’s 26-ball innings shocked everyone and the India captain saw his team home with Shreyas Iyer.

Promoted

Kohli returned to form with his 49-ball 73, which also saw him become the first cricketer to score 3,000 runs in men’s T20Is.

Both teams will now face face-to-face at the same venue on Tuesday in the third T20I.
