England captain Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings are doubtful for the second ODI against India after the series opener was injured on Friday. The visitors suffered failures in their 66-run defeat to sever the webbing between their right hand thumb and index finger, requiring four stitches. In another incident, Billings injured his collarbone after taking a strange dive to stop a boundary. “We’re going to wait 48 hours to see and see how it is … to allow that much time to be available for Friday as expected,” Morgan said in the post-match conversation.
Morgan, who dismissed England for 251 at a score of 22, said his batting would not be a 100 per cent injury and fielding is also a concern with a foot webbing.
Billings, who dislocated his left shoulder to miss his winning campaign in the 2019 World Cup, also followed in a tough race, scoring 18 runs.
“I haven’t talked with Sam about his batting, so I don’t know in his example … I believe it will never be 100 percent, but it’s not that I don’t catch with the bat. Can.” .

Down 0–1, the world champions will face a win-win situation in the second of three ODIs on Friday. Going forward, Morgan said, they will provide opportunities to most of their players who can uncapped Matt Parkinson, Reece Topley and Lime Livingstone.
Morgan said, “One-day cricket is the vehicle to grow our squad and progress and improve beyond our best XI on the field.”
