A defiant half-century on Ishaan Kishan’s debut and a complete knockout innings by captain Virat Kohli marked a seven-wicket win for India in the second T20 International against England on Sunday. Kishan scored 56 runs in 32 balls and felt completely at home on the biggest stage, and played IPL cricket in a similar atmosphere. Chase Master Kohli (73 not out from 49 balls) led India to victory with 13 balls remaining after Kishan was dismissed.
Indian bowlers made a disciplined effort, stopping England at 164 for six in 20 overs.
India did not make the best start in the chase as they dismissed KL Rahul for zero, catching Jos Buttler off left-arm pacer Sam Curran.
Kishan, known for his invasive batting, made the invasion of England a simple one with his terrifying hitting. His sensational knock included five fours and four sixes.
Kishan and Kohli took 95 runs for the second wicket to take the game to the opposition. In the 10th over, Kishan was caught by Adil Rashid in front of the wicket.
Kohli and Rishabh Pant (26 for 13) later shared a 36-run partnership for the third wicket before England’s hopes were boosted by giving an easy catch to Johnny Bairstow off Chris Jordan in the 14th over. But it was not to be as Kohli followed suit in full. The captain finished the game with a Jordan six.
Earlier, the Indian bowlers performed brilliantly in the last five overs, scoring 34 runs in the last five overs.
Sent in to bat, England suffered an early blow in the form of Jos Buttler (0), who was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the third ball of the innings.
Jason Roy (46 for 35) and David Malan (24 of 23) shared a 63-run 47-ball partnership to advance England’s innings. But a dangerous-looking partnership was broken by Yuzvendra Chahal in the ninth over when he trapped Malan LBW in front of the crease as India got the review right on the occasion.
When Roy looked dangerous, he was caught by Bhuvneshwar at deep square leg off Washington Sundar in the 12th over.
Washington struck again in their next over when they had Johnny Bairstow (20), who had already caught Suryakumar Yadav at deep square leg.
England captain Eoin Morgan (28 of 20) was looking for a big hit as the next hit, he dismissed Pant from the slow ball of Shardul Thakur behind the stumps.

Reaching the target of 130 runs for four wickets in the 15th over, England lost well, but the Indian bowlers bowled brilliantly, conceding just 34 runs in the last five overs.
Washington (2/29) and Thakur (2/29) were the bowlers for India.
