KL Rahul hit his fifth ODI (ODI) century in the second match of the three-match ODI series against England on Friday. KL Rahul, who scored a brilliant half-century in the series opener, hit his century off just 108 balls in the 44th over of the innings. In the absence of regular number four Shreyas Iyer, Rahul was promoted to the batting order and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and a 121-run partnership with captain Virat Kohli, helped the host team get out of trouble. Apart from Rahul, Kohli also hit a quick innings of 66 off 79 balls but the India captain failed to convert it into a big score as he was dismissed by leg-spinner Adil Rashid. During this knock, Kohli scored his 10,000 ODI runs while batting in third place.

After Kohli’s departure, Rishabh Pant, who replaced injured Shreyas Iyer in the playing XI, justified his selection with his trademark counter-attack, scoring 77 runs off just 40 balls with the help of three fours and seven sixes.
India scored 336/6 in their 50 overs with Hardik Pandya’s 16-ball delay of 35 runs.
