Krunal Pandya scored the fastest fifty in ODIs in the first match against England in Pune on Tuesday. Brought to bat with India at a score of 205/5 in 40.3 overs, the elder Pandya Bhai scored a half-century off just 26 balls. He scored 58 runs in 31 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. India scored 317/5 with KL Rahul’s unbeaten 43-ball 62 not out. Overall it seemed like a time when it seemed difficult.
It was an emotional start for Krunal, who had recently lost his father, and he made little effort to hide it, pumping his fist and punching his bat after every boundary.
After a 105-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul gave the team a good start with a partnership of 112 runs in just 57 balls to bring India back on track.
Rohit Sharma fell for 28 after India’s slow start, but Kohli and Dhawan then moved the ship forward for India as they picked up the pace.
Kohli was eventually dismissed for 56, while Shikhar Dhawan scored 98 runs, coming close to his century.
Promoted
Both Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya fell cheaply, but Krunal and Rahul brutally attacked the England bowlers in the final 10 overs.
Rahul hit four fours and four sixes as he again found his mojo after a poor run in the T20 International series against England.
