Police said that ‘Mylapur’ Shivakumar, wanted in several criminal cases in the city, was classified as a ‘A Plus’ category misdemeanor. He is charged with three counts of murder, 10 attempted murder and 22 other offenses. Sivakumar was the main accused in the 1997 murder of his rival Thottam Sekar, and the main suspect in the murder of Thottam Sekar’s wife Malarkodi and son Ajguruja on October 10, 2019, in front of the casino theater near Anna Salai. Twice detained under the Gunda Act. An external order was issued twice, preventing him from entering the Mylapore police district. Police said she was recently involved in setting fire to a woman’s house.
Sivakumar had recently come out on bail and often went to a house in the postal colony to recover Rs 10 lakh. Seeing their movement, a gang on a motorbike stopped them and attacked them using long knives. Three of his colleagues, who attempted to stop the attack, were also stabbed. He fell into a pool of blood and badly injured his face and head. He died on the spot and the suspects fled the scene.
On information, police personnel from Ashok Nagar reached the spot and investigated at the crime scene. The body was sent to Government Royapetta Hospital for post-mortem. Police sources said the gangster Thottam Sekar’s son may have been behind the attack. Further investigation is underway.
