Saina is India’s first badminton player to win a medal at the Olympics, when she won a bronze medal in London 2012. She is also the first player from her country to reach the finals of the World Championship, where she won silver in 2015.
The three-time Olympian is not in the best form at the moment and may also miss qualifying for the upcoming Tokyo Games. He is out of the top 16 in the rankings, and has won only one of the four tournaments he has played in this year.
