Tirupathur
During a routine investigation, officials of a static monitoring team (SST) on Thursday seized gutkha and other banned tobacco products worth ₹ 5.16 lakh in Tirupur district.
According to the police, SST was investigating the vehicle in Joravarpet assembly constituency on Thursday. They stopped a car and upon investigation, they found gutkha packed in 61 bundles. The seizure is estimated at 5.16 lakhs.
Police sources claim that the occupants of the car – Murthy and Dharma – were taking it from Bangalore to Kanchipuram. He has been handed over to the Natrampalli police. An investigation is underway.
