Guitarist Hutton passes away – Hindu

Archie Hutton, who died on Thursday night at the age of 87, was a talented guitarist and helped popularize Western music in and around Kozhikode.

He was exceptionally good at Hawaiian and Spanish guitar. He was very much a part of the city’s active rock scene in the 1980s and 90s. He also had a band – the Hutton Orchestra.

Hutton, who worked as a staff musician at All India Radio’s Kozhikode station, joined veteran musicians MS Baburaj and K.K. Also performed for Raghavan. He also sang a song for the 1968 film, Love in kerala, Whose music was composed by Baburaj.
