Addressing a press conference, a day after the syndicate led by Mr Gowda held 12 of the 15 positions of director in the MMUL elections held on Tuesday, Mr Mahesh said that party supporters would have won two more seats. , 86 votes were declared invalid. Though there was little time to prepare for the elections, Mr. Mahesh said that he is satisfied that the JD (S) supporters won three seats and claimed that the party has started sowing seeds for its presence in the cooperative sector of the district .

It may be mentioned here that the MEMUL election was turned into a prestige battle between Mr. Mahesh and Mr. Gowda, which fell in line with the party leadership. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also appeared in the campaign before taking part in the elections.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gowda said that cooperative elections are not contested on political lines and that the efforts of politicization of the cooperative body are regretted. Claiming that he had been serving the cooperative sector for many decades, Mr. Gowda expressed satisfaction that most of his supporters had won the election. “This is a win for the cooperative sector”, he said.

Mr. Mahesh said that the party was forced to form a syndicate to counter Mr. Gowda as he began systematically targeting JD (S) supporters and candidates. He accused Mr. Gowda of joining hands with candidates supporting Congress and BJP.

Reacting to Mr. Gowda’s allegation that he was misleading Mr. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Mahesh said that he was actively trying to form a party in the district after Mr. Gowda abstained from party affairs. “I considered you the supreme leader of Mysuru district.
