Google Pixel 5a launching today? First look at new phone ahead of official reveal

This is the same 5G chip that was fitted with last year’s Pixel 5, which was dubbed a phone for the “economic downturn”.

Launched in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, this device opted for an appealing price point instead of a huge leap in design and specs.

Elsewhere, the Pixel 5a is rumoured to come with 6GB of RAM and be fitted with a huge 4680 mAh battery.

This is the biggest battery size ever for a Pixel device, improving on the Pixel 4a 5G’s 3,800mAh power pack.

The Pixel 5a looks like it will also be IP67 dust and water-resistant and come with the trusty 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of the price tag, the Pixel 5a is expected to be cheaper than its predecessor.
