In the international market, gold was at $ 1,719 an ounce and silver at $ 24.48 an ounce.
According to HDFC Securities, gold stalled in the national capital on Thursday, falling from ₹ 881 to ₹ 44,701 per 10 grams following a sharp recovery in global precious metal prices.
In previous trade, it had closed at Rs 43,820 per 10 grams.
Silver also rose to ₹ 63,256 per kg from ₹ 62,185 per kg in previous trade.
