Samurai game Ghost of Tsushima’s online multiplayer mode Legends is getting a new, standalone version which means that you do not need to own the base game to play the online multiplayer. The new standalone Legends mode will be launched on August 20, the same day Ghost of Tsushima’s Director’s Cut launches. Legends has been priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 for PS4 and PS5 both.
What’s new in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends standalone version
The standalone version contains the same content as that available to owners of Ghost of Tsushima, barring a few cosmetics that can only be unlocked by playing the single-player campaign. Even if you do not have the base game, you can still play cooperatively with other players who own a copy of Ghost of Tsushima. If at any point you want to buy the base game, you can upgrade to Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for $40 / €50 /£44 (PS4) or $50 / €60 / £54 (PS5).
New game mode: Rivals
A new game mode is going to be added to Ghost of Tsushima on September 3. Named Rivals, the mode will let a total of four players, in competing teams of two who will have to face waves of enemies and defeat them. You’ll collect Magatama every time you beat a foe which can be spent on Shades, Curses, Hwacha fire, etc. Spending enough Magatama will unlock the Final Stand waves. Gear Mastery System, new content
The Gear Mastery System expands the game progression system. Players with 110-level gear can now bind it to class and activate the “Mastery Challenges’
The game will also add new content from September 10 to October 1, which will add an “additional Rivals map, new Survival maps inspired by Iki Island and Iyo’s realm, and “Trials of Iyo,” a harder-difficulty version of the 2020 raid with challenges in bite-sized chunks and a new set of leaderboards.”
