Gadkari says vehicle scraping policy will be a ‘win-win’ policy to help reduce pollution

Gadkari said in the Lok Sabha that with this policy, the business of the country’s automobile industry will increase from the current Rs 4.5 lakh crore to Rs 10 lakh crore.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday that the vehicle scraping policy would be a “win-win” policy that would ultimately help improve fuel efficiency and reduce pollution.

Making a statement about the vehicle scouring policy in the Lok Sabha, the Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSME said that the policy would increase the business of the country’s automobile industry from the current Rs 4.5 lakh crore to Rs 10 lakh crore.

Announced in the Union budget of 2021-22, the policy provides for fitness testing for individual vehicles after 20 years, while commercial vehicles will require it after completion of 15 years.

Gadkari has also issued an advisory to vehicle manufacturers, advising them to give a discount of five per cent to new vehicle buyers after making a certificate certificate.

Noting that the policy would be a “win-win” policy, the minister said it would help improve fuel efficiency, reduce pollution and also increase GST income due to the purchase of new vehicles.
