Chennai has a daily count of 395; Eight more deaths recorded with five from Chennai; There are over 100 cases in Chengalpattu, Coimbatore districts.
On Wednesday, fresh COVID-19 cases reported a near 1,000 people in Tamil Nadu, as 945 people tested positive for infection, and eight more were killed. While Chennai had a daily count of 395, cases increased to over 100 in both Chengalpattu and Coimbatore districts after a period of three to four months.
The last few days have shown an increase in the number of tests conducted in the state.
A total of 71,696 individuals were tested in the last 24 hours. In terms of samples, 71,888 were tested.
COVID-19 cases have been increasing in the state in the last 10 days. The daily count is gradually increasing in Chennai and its neighboring districts of Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram, and Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Thanjavur.
Chengalpattu, which has been recording fewer than 100 cases since the end of November, reported 103 fresh cases, while in Coimbatore which last reported more than 100 cases in December, 107 individuals reported for infection. Tested positive.
56 cases were reported in Thiruvallur, 30 in Kanchipuram and 22 in Tiruppur. While there were no new cases in Perambalur, 17 districts each had less than 10 cases.

The state recorded eight fatal incidents. Out of this, Chennai recorded five deaths while Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai and Vellore recorded one each. It also included a 30-year-old woman from Chennai. She had diabetes and high blood pressure and was admitted to a private hospital on 28 February complaining of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing for two days. He died on March 15 of acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID-19 pneumonia.
A 62-year-old woman from Chennai who did not have co-morbidity died on March 12 at the Government Corona Hospital due to COVID-19 pneumonia and respiratory failure.
The dead included two persons in 50 and two persons in 70. This brought the toll to stand at 12,564. Active cases increased to 5,811, including 2,277 persons in Chennai, 506 in Coimbatore and 499 in Chengalpattu. Another 576 people were discharged, a total of 8,43,999 were discharged.
