Apparently, Fred Vanvelt is not a supporter of the NBA’s disciplinary policies.
The league announced on Thursday that the Raptors guard, his compatriot De’Andre Bembury and Lakers guard Talon Horton-Tucker suspended a game without pay to leave their bench areas during Tuesday night’s game between Toronto and Los Angeles Has been done. In addition, the Raptors fined Ozzy Enunobi ($ 30,000) and Lakers elder Montrell Harl ($ 20,000) for their roles in the court-court overhaul.

At the end of the first quarter of that contest, Lakers guard Dennis Schroder fouled Anuni and messed with him after the whistle. Anunoby catches Schroder by the leg and slams him to the ground, causing Harrell and a group of other players to jump into the ground. After a lengthy review of the play, both Anunoby and Harrell were dropped.
After learning that he had received a suspension, Vanvelt offered a short response on Twitter: “Lol.”
It may seem strange that VanVleet, Bembry and Horton-Tucker were suspended because they had at least direct involvement in Frakes. Unfortunately for those people, there is not a ton of gray area when it comes to leaving the bench, even if a player is trying to defuse the situation.
Hey, if nothing else, VanVleet can take comfort in knowing that it could be worse. Imagine if he had done this during a big playoff series! (So sorry, Sun fans.)
