Chelsea goalkeeper Willie Kabalero has underlined the differences between former manager Frank Lampard and current boss Thomas Tuchel, spending parts of both seasons under both coaches.
In January Tuchel took over from Lampard, in which the former Blues midfielder was dismissed from his role after a season-and-a-half.
Caballero states that Tuchel has a very different approach than its predecessor, one that is more specialized in modern sports.
What did Caballero say?
“Clearly speaking about the coach, one who does well and the other who does well is uncomfortable,” Caballero explained 90 minutes, “Because they’re for something. If we have to have them as coaches, it’s because they’re good. They explain to you the football that they want to get out of and we’re the activists, who Carry out the plan.
“Undoubtedly, with Frank, we had a more direct idea of the game, basically English football. To attack fast, attack the wings, move centrally or attack from one side and finish at the other. But with a lot of verticality. The football he loved was very fast, with the ball’s fast movement. He also liked to attack and counter-attack.
“Now with Tuchel, it’s more about the combination, playing with the ball. We make more. He almost tells us how the match will develop, where are the key aspects of the opponent, his strengths and his weaknesses.”
“With his ideas, how he has got his teams to play well, he tells us which players we will need to get involved to play bright and follow his plan. Sometimes it works Is, sometimes it doesn’t, but the idea is to play. [is there]”
Tuchel’s record in Chelsea
Tuchel turned Chelsea’s season since arriving in January, with the Blues currently ranked fourth in the Premier League. He has won four out of 10 matches since losing a match so far and has won four out of his 14 games.
Chelsea are also in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Porto, and in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they clash with Manchester City.
