Four states including Andhra Pradesh and Goa have asked ₹ 16,467 crore as a special financial package from the Center, the Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.
The Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance has received requests for special financial packages from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Nagaland, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur said in a written reply.
Andhra Pradesh has sought the release of ₹ 700 crore under a special development package for backward regions.
“The state government of Goa has demanded a Diamond Jubilee Year Package amounting to ₹ 500 crores for the celebration of liberation from Portuguese rule. The state government of Manipur has demanded a special economic package of ₹ 14,567 crore including various sectors of the economy. “
Nagaland has asked for a special assistance package covering a sum of ₹ 700 crores covering various sectors of the economy.
Following the guidelines of the plan, he said, the central government examines the requests of the state governments and transfers resources to the states in the form of grants subject to availability of resources within the gross budgetary support.
He said that the release of funds to Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 is based on the recommendations of the NITIOG, which is subject to the availability of resources with the central government within the gross budgetary support.
