Four children from Mysuru received the Balashree Award from the in-charge minister of Mysuru district, ST Somashekhar on Friday.
Nineteen-year-old Sindhu N. Shastri; 17-year-old Akanksha CJ; 15-year-old Tushar N. Bhardwaj and 12-year-old Varsha NK were presented with prizes at the Zilla Panchayat Auditorium here.
Four of the seven children selected for the award from Karnataka are from Mysuru after attending various events held in New Delhi. In view of COVID-19, the award presentation was held in Bengaluru.
Typically, the Balashree Awards are presented by either the President or the Prime Minister. But, due to the epidemic, the presentations were limited to the respective states.
Indus n. Shastri received the award for creative writing, while Aakanksha was recognized in the field of scientific problem solving. Tusshar received the award in recognition of his acting skills (solo acting), and Varsha received the award for Science Model.
