The flight from Bangalore to IndiGo will be the first commercial flight to land at Orvakal Airport, about 20 km from Kurnool, on 28 March.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will formally inaugurate the airport to be completed on 26 March on all aspects.
Former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Greenfield Airport on 8 January 2019. He also inaugurated a 1,000 MW capacity mega solar power park.
Although the test of the runway had been completed and the runway and terminal buildings were ready, other tasks related to air-traffic control were not completed.
The airport is now complete in all respects. It has also received DGCA security clearance. Flights to Visakhapatnam and Chennai will also be operated soon.
Finance Minister B Rajendranath and the District Collector on Friday inspected facilities at the passenger terminal and other areas.
