Many fantasy baseball owners consider second base like a “catch-all” position, especially if you’re looking for a bench sleeper or MI late in the draft. In particular, 2B is the situation where you can find something stolen, which has always been coveted by fictional owners. You can usually find one or two big 2B breakouts every year as well, and with almost all other basemen qualified in other positions, this is important because being an upper or mid-tier requires you to rely on rankings or cheat sheets to know Should not do. People will come by closing the draft board.
The list below has a wide range of 2Bs, ranging from popular sleepers in shallow leagues (Dylan Moore, Nick Medrigal) to those who may not be ready even in deep leagues. It features some combination of the trio (Moore, Solak, Jake Cronenworth), ranging from average (Madrigal), power (Nick Solak, Gavin Lux), and speed (Medrigal, John Bertie) to specific class sleepers.
The second premise is not a particularly deep position, but it just makes it more important. Getting a good one – or at least one that helps in a specific category – can really put your team on top. At the very least, it is always good to have bench options that you can plug-and-play on multiple infield positions, and you can find many of them on 2B.

Fantasy Baseball 2B Sleepers: Breakout Second Baseman, Late Goal Steal
Positionability based on Yahoo’s default settings
Nick Solak, Rangers (also characters 3B, OF). Solak ranked high on this list last year after having 32 HR hits among the majors in Double-A, Triple-A and 2019. They did not produce as expected in ’20 (.268 / .326 / .344). But he stole seven bases in 58 games, which it promises if you project in a full season. The versatile 26-year-old official figure to hit for power eventually makes him a 20-20 (or even 30-20) candidate. Chances are, the steal won’t hit that mark, but Solak may still be a solid all-around producer at the price of the deal.
Dylan Moore, Mariners (3B, SS, OF). Moore is “everyone’s sleeper” this year, so he is dominating the point. He said, even with all the hype, Moore actually has the tools to pay, especially with his multi-position qualification. Wright, 28, hit eight HRs and stole 12 bases in just 33 games last year, and found that the 20-HR, 30-SB potential is always going to be extremely valuable, even if it comes with an above average. Chances are, he won’t be stealing multiple bases, but Moore will be a worthwhile fantasy contributor.

Nick Medrigal, White Sox. Like Moore, Madrigal may have a slight overvoltage at this point, but the 24-year-old speedster should provide two stats that the owners of the fantasy are always looking for: SB and batting average. A .309 hitter in 163 short league games, Madrigal hit .340 in 29 games with the big club last year. It came with a .365 BABIP, which is not really high when you consider what kind of a hitter he is. Mandrigal will not hit for any power (four HRs in the minors), but after 35 steals in 2019, it is likely that he could hit the 30-SB mark. However, it is important to note that if he steals 40 or 50, it would be a bit surprising, and with nothing provided in HR and RBI, Medrigal’s overall value is limited. Still, if you’re full of low-average electric loads, getting a guy like Madrigal to play 2B or MI can actually end up your roster.
Jake Cronworth, Padres (1B, SS). The Padres have several infield options, but Cronenworth has an everyday role when the season opens. The versatile 27-year-old leftie hit .285 / .354 / .477 in 54 games last year, creating a 2019 Triple-A campaign where he hit .334 / .429 / .520 with 10 HRs and 12 SBs at 88. . sport. Cronworth’s lefty splits are a concern, as he could find himself in a platoon, but his multi-position ability, decent power-speed combination and solid contact skills make him a good bench player.
Ha-Song Kim, Padres (SS). Kim has no place in the Padres lineup every day, but the 25-year-old Korean imports 20-20 type of good average and on-base skills. That how the mazars will translate can be seen, but if he finds his way into the lineup, he can be a good, inexpensive source around production. Do not draft it, but add it to your watchlist.

Gavin Lux, Dodgers. Lux bore through the Dodgers’ minor league system, especially dominating Triple-A in 2019. (.392 / .478 / / -719). It has not had any success in either of the last two seasons (.210 / .278 / .377 in 42 games), but Lux still has 23 years to develop. The Dodgers have no shortage of options to play at second base, so Lux, who is particularly bad against the Left in extremely limited action (.091 / .130 / .227 in 23 plate appearances), is himself a Can find in the platoon, but with him. Pedigree, at some point a breakout is not possible, it is probable.
John Bertie, Marlins (3B, SS, OF). Bertie may seem like an odd inclusion on this list because he is 31 years old and not an everyday place in Miami’s lineup, but in the last two seasons, when he is given the chance, he arises. More important, it is manufactured Chura, Swiping 26 bags in 112 games. With a solid BB-rate, good contact skills and significant multi-position qualification, Bertie can be a poor man’s Jonathan Villar. In actual fact, he could be better than this. Do not ignore him in deep leagues.
Brendan Rodgers, Rockies (SS). Rodgers finds a mandatory “starter-in-Colorado” mention here, though a hamstring injury would force him to open the CL. However, the former top prospect has good pop and decent speed, so if he ever figures it out at the major league level, he can hold some solid numbers.
Wrote about the other 2B-character sleepers: Andres Jimenez (3B, SS), Ty France (3B), Mike Bros. (1B, 3B), Garrett Hampson (SS, OF), Ryan McMahon (1B, 3B), Luis Uris (3B, SS), D Strange-Gordon (SS *, OF)
*He is not eligible for that position on draft day, but is expected to play there during the season.
