Of the former councilor, a section of the DMK cadre. Dhanasekaran’s supporters threw stones at the car of party candidate AMV Prabhakar Raja in Veeragambakkam constituency when the latter went to his residence in KK Nagar to seek the blessings of the former minister.
Sri Prabhakar Raja is the son of Vikram Raja, the organizer of a youth wing and the Vanigar Sangam Peramaippu leader in Tamil Nadu. He was selected and announced as the party’s candidate by party president MK Stalin around noon. At 1.30 in the afternoon he went to meet Mr. Dhanasekaran.
When his car reached the area, supporters of Mr. Dhanasekaran threw stones at him. Sri Prabhakar Raja was forced to return.
Later, Mr. Dhanasekaran went to the party headquarters with his supporters. He said that the party’s decision to field Mr. Prabhakar Raja was not acceptable to him and his supporters. He blamed District Secretary Ma. Subramanian for incorrect selection. He claimed that eight of the 12 block secretaries signed the resignation letter.
