Disha Ravi created ruckus on Twitter

Climate activists criticize media outlets as ‘seekers of TRPs’.

On February 13, a month after he was arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of treason, 22-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi first came on record and wrote about his result in a series of posts on Twitter. “All that is real which seems very unrealistic,” she said.

Ms Ravi, who lives in Bengaluru, was arrested on a toolkit to express global solidarity with the ongoing farmers’ protests. He was granted bail after 10 days.

Ms Ravi said she expressed disappointment over being arrested: “In all those years, when someone asked me where I see myself in five years, I have never been in jail.” I would not have answered, but here I was… convincing myself that the path I would go through would surprise myself thinking that this was happening to me. ”

He also told how he realized that he did not have a legal counsel.

“As I stood in that corner, desperately searching for my lawyers, I came to know of the fact that I would have to defend myself. I had no idea what legal aid was available, so When the judge asked me if I had anything to say, I decided to speak my mind.

He also criticized media outlets as “TRP seekers”. “… In the days that followed, my autonomy was violated; My pictures were in the news; My statements were found guilty – not in the court of law, but on the flat screens of TRP seekers.

He explained his climate change activism: “… it is about being radically inclusive of all groups of people so that everyone has access to clean air, food and water.”

He thanked everyone who stood by him. “… I was lucky enough to have excellent free legal aid, but not all of those who do?” he said.

He ended his message with the importance and impact of truth. “Thoughts don’t die. And, the truth, no matter how long it takes, always reveals itself. ”
