Independent candidates supported by former Chirala MLA and YSRCP leader Amanichi Krishnamohan won 13 of the 33 wards, affecting the political calculations of the ruling party.
Balram Krishnamurthy’s handpicked YSRCP candidates, who were loyalists after winning on the TDP ticket in the 2019 assembly elections, were successful in only 19 wards, where all five presidents of YSRCP – B.
