Cubs’ Joke Pederson hit a home run and scored – a sweet waffle maker

Jock Pedersen came on Wednesday afternoon with his first hit of the 2021 season, a home run, his first in a Cubs uniform. Beautiful stuff for the start of the baseball season, perfectly.

But Pedersen returned to the dugout as some of the famous high fives, butt pats and most importantly the waffle maker:

That’s right, a complete waffle maker.

If you’re new to Cubs baseball, Chicago’s Ian Happ has been using the waffle maker since 2018 as a celebrity in the dugout. In baseball terms, “pitching” means making great contact with it.

The Cubs lost 4–2, but Pedersen was appreciating the gift.

“I hope we are making a lot of waffles. Hopefully we are rolling out waffles soon for everyone,” he said after the game.

Baseball has a fun home run: We’ve seen silent treatments, bubble machines, and a dance tunnel. The waffle maker is here to stay.
