The leaders of the CPI-M district said that the BJP was trying to inject communal poison into the minds of the people. He said that the CPI (M) successfully completed the BJP’s effort by electing Shri Nandakumar as its candidate in Ponnani.

The Ponnani assembly constituency, comprising the Ponnani municipality and the local civic bodies of Alamkod, Nnamanakku, Marancheri, Perampadappu and Veliamkode panchayats, has never elected a representative on the basis of their religion.
