Cotton exports can touch 70 million bales

The cotton exports so far this season (October 2020 to September 2021) have risen to 47 lakh bales and are expected to touch 60–70 lakh bales by the end of the season. Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) CMD Pradeep Kumar Aggarwal said that total cotton exports could touch 70 lakh bales.

CCI, which has 47 lakh bales in stock and has exported around one lakh bales so far, is shipping an additional 10,000 bales. He said that Bangladesh could export 10-12 lakh bales.

However, Cotton Association of India (CAI) President Atul Ganatra said that the association has estimated cotton exports at a total of 60,000 bales this season.

International prices have fallen and Indian cotton prices are now on par with international prices. Therefore, exports may not be very high. Prices in India are expected to remain stable or slightly different. This will depend on government agencies, which have around 50 lakh bales in stock.
