The active case tally breaks the two million mark; 11,314 patients were discharged; 99 plagues take toll to 53,399

In its highest single-day case since the onset of the epidemic, Maharashtra reported 30,535 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday as its active case jumped from the figure of two lakh to 2,10,120.

Only 11,314 patients were discharged, with the state’s recovery rate dropping by 89.32% in the last 24 hours. At the same time, a record 1.38 lakh samples were also tested.

A fatal spike of 99 deaths was recorded (43 of which were recorded in the last 48 hours and the rest was recorded in advance), bringing the death toll to 53,399.

While the total case tally has touched 24,79,682, the cumulative recovery stands at 22,14,867.

“Out of the total 1,83,56,200 laboratory samples tested so far, 24,79,682 (case positivity increased by 13.39%) have returned positive with over 1.38 lakh samples being tested in the last 24 hours. , ”State Monitoring Dr. Pradeep Avate said that the fatal growth in the case of the state fell to 2.15%.

Pune district reported an increase of over 5,500 new cases to take its total case to 4,71,126. According to data from the state’s health department, 25 fatalities were recorded at 8,195 as fatalities. According to district officials, the active case tally has now crossed the figure of 36,000, while the death toll has crossed 9,560.

The city of Mumbai also recorded a huge spike of 3,779 new cases, taking its total to 3,62,675, of which 22,081 are active. 11,586 people died in the city’s ten tolls.

Nagpur district in Vidarbha added more than 3,600 cases as its total cases peaked at 1,96,546, of which 29,771 are active. According to data from the state Health Department, 3,771 people lost their lives due to the death of 17 people in the district. However, district officials said that there have been 32 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the actual fatalities to 4,624.

Cases in Aurangabad in Marathwada have been steadily increasing, with a total number of more than 1,700 new cases reported so that its total number is 69,130, of which 13,686 are active. With three deaths, the death toll stood at 1,315.

Nanded in Marathwada saw an alarming increase of over 1,300 cases and led to two deaths taking its total case to 31,293, of which 7,420 are active, while its death has touched 706.

In North Maharashtra, Nashik registered 2,600 new cases, taking its total to 1,50,637, of which 15,619 are active, while three deaths brought its death to 2,124.

More than 1,400 fresh cases and 11 deaths were reported in neighboring Jalgaon, with a total of 75,631 cases, of which 6,518 are active, while its death toll has reached 1,564.

Western Maharashtra also saw an increase in cases. Satara reported 326 new cases – a new high in about six months – and two fatalities as the total cases rose to 62,283, of which 2,212 are active, while the death toll rose to 1,873.

Dr. Atte said that at present, there were 9,69,867 people in home quarantine and 9,601 in institutional quarantine facilities across the state.
