The national

Spike in daily COVID-19 cases in India

According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, on Thursday, 22,854 cases of coronovirus infection were reported in India in a single day, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,12,85,561.

The death toll rose to 1,58,189 with 126 daily new deaths, updated at 8 am. Total active cases have increased to 1,89,226, which now comprise 1.68 percent of the total infections.

The number of people suffering from the disease has increased to 1,09,38,146, which is 96.92 percent of the national COVID-19 recovery rate, while the case fatality rate is 1.40 percent.

Karnataka

Karnataka on Wednesday registered the first COVID-19 case of South African tension.
