A prominent industrialist, AMSG Ashokan, is the Congress candidate for Sivakasi constituency, while Legal Adviser PSW Madhav Rao Srivilliputtur (reserved) is the party’s candidate for the constituency.
Former Vice President of Sivakasi Municipality (2006-2011), Mr. Ashokan comes from a Congress family. His father, AMS Ganesan (1967–1974) was twice the chairman of the municipality and his elder brother was the state president of the Congress Seva Dal.
Mr. Ashokan, a commerce graduate, has been with the Congress Party since 1996.
He holds the top position in the associations of firework makers, match makers and master printers. He is also the President Elect of the Chemical and Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL).
Mr Ashokan said he was seeking a party ticket to contest in the assembly and parliament elections, adding that his effort would be to promote digital initiatives in Sivakasi and make the city clean. She is pitted against Laxmi Ganesan of AIADMK.
Mr. Madhav Rao, a native of Watrap under Srivilliputtur constituency, is a legal consultant and LPG distributor.
His association with the party dates back to 1986 when he was the president of the Rajiv Gandhi Manch at Madras Law College. He has been with the National Students Union of India and served as the State Vice President and Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress.
Mr. Rao, a member of the State Congress Committee, will contest the election for the first time. The aspirations of the people of Srivilliputtur assembly constituency are very high. Being the son of clay, I will try to fulfill all his expectations. He will hold the ruling party candidate, Manraj.
Meanwhile, businessman S. of All India Movinder Munnani Kazhagam. Rajasekhar alias SR Thevar has been elected in Tiruchuli assembly constituency. He will contest against DMK MLA Thangam Thenarasu on two AIADMK Leeds Symbols.
Mr. Rajasekar, who started his political career with Mr. Rajasekhara Paravai, joined AIMMK in 1998 as General Secretary, while the party was launched by Dr. N. Sethuraman did.
Later, he contested Desia Forward Bloc along with BT Arsakumar and contested Lok Sabha elections in 2011 from Sivaganga Parliamentary Constituency. President of five districts Periyar-Vaigai Irrigation Farmers Association, Shri Rajeshkar has promised to improve irrigation facilities, drinking water facilities and provide water. Free coaching for NEET and government job aspirants in the constituency. He runs a number of businesses in Kerala, including four-star hotels.
The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a young businessman, G.I. Pandurangan (38) has been rewarded for contesting from Virudhunagar assembly seat with a party ticket, as he was instrumental in the nomination of more than 6,000 cadres in the party.
He is involved in the construction and construction materials business employing over 2,500 persons. Recently, he organized a grand public meeting in the town.
He is pitted against two-time DMK MLA ARR Sinivasan.
Marumalari Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam contested on the DMK’s party ticket to contest in Sattupur assembly constituency. ARR fielded Raghuraman.
A government medical officer, Drs. Raghuraman quit the job and joined the party in 2012 and has been the district medical wing secretary of the party and now Virudhunagar West has become the district secretary.
He unsuccessfully contested the same constituency in 2016. He will contest against AIADMK Virudhunagar’s former district secretary RK Kalimuthu.
