A rapid survey conducted by the Campaign Against Child Labor has found that there has been an increase in child labor preoccupations after the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Campaign Against Child Labor is a group of 24 non-governmental organizations and they surveyed among 818 children to study the impact of child labor in the aftermath of the COVID-19 epidemic. The group divided the state into five regions – North, East, Central, West and South.
According to the survey, child labor increased by 280% among vulnerable communities.
There was a rapid increase in the North, South and West regions and it was lower in the Central and Eastern regions.
The proportion of working children has increased from 28.2% to 79.6% due to the epidemic and closure of schools.
The children are working more than eight hours and 94% of the children are working due to the financial condition of the family.
According to the survey, the crisis has reversed the benefits of child labor reduction.
