Police said 50-year-old Nadarajan and his family, a businessman living in the ‘R’ block of Anna Nagar, went to Pudukottai in January. While they were away, the thieves entered her house and took gold ornaments and ₹ 4 lakh in cash. Mr. Nadarajan lodged a complaint with Anna Nagar Police Station.
A special team monitored the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and information shared by the Bengaluru Police.
The two accused were seen traveling in an autorickshaw and tried to escape, but were caught after the chase. Police identified him as Bharata, 39, and Karthikumar alias ‘Escape’ Karthik, 32, both of Bengaluru.
Investigation revealed that the duo targeted and vandalized the closed houses at Anna Nagar, Aminjikarai, Thirumangalam, Mogappair, Koyambedu and Arumbakkam. He was also involved in a robbery at Mr. Nadarajan’s house.
Police recovered 64 gold sovereigns, in 10.5 lakh cash and an autorickshaw from them.
