Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has withdrawn his resignation and will continue as the national team’s fast bowling consultant. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that Vass’s resignation led to “generally resolved” cases following a meeting between the former fast bowler and the SLC management.
SLC said in an official statement, “Sri Lanka Cricket would like to inform you that as per the meeting between Mr. Chaminda Vaas and the management team of Sri Lanka Cricket, the matters which led to his resignation were resolved.”
He said Vaas withdrew his submitted letter of resignation and agreed to continue as fast bowling consultant for Sri Lanka Cricket, a position he held prior to his resignation.
On Thursday, Nkrumah Bonner’s convincing performance helped West Indies take a tough fight in the first Test match against Sri Lanka.
Chasing a target of 375 runs, the West Indies batsmen gave a calm and brilliant performance in the second innings, allowing the hosts to draw the match.
Bonner scored an unbeaten 113-run knock, while Kyle Meyers chipped in with a 52-run knock as the hosts scored 236/4 at the close of play on the fifth and final day.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had scored 169 runs in their first innings. In reply, West Indies scored a healthy lead by scoring 271 runs. Sri Lanka returned to the game in the second innings with a mammoth score of 476.
The second Test between the two sides will begin from Monday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
