Centre’s panel for air quality management in NCR dissolved 5 months after formation

The ordinance under which this commission was constituted has expired.

The Commission of Air Quality Management in the National Capital Territory and adjoining areas of the Central Government has been dissolved within five months of its constitution.

The commission set up by the Center in October last year was dissolved as an ordinance under which it was instituted.

Talking PTI, Union Environment Secretary RP Gupta said that since the ordinance was not introduced in the Parliament within six weeks, the lapse has occurred and as a result the commission is also closed.

“The ordinance never became an act. Any ordinance should be introduced within six weeks of the formation of Parliament. This did not happen, so the ordinance lapsed and the commission was dissolved. ‘

The Commission was chaired by MM Kutty, a former Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
