In response to apprehensions over the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the colleges in the district decide to complete the practical examination component for the semester within the next two weeks as well.
The sense of alarm has sunk after the district administration on Monday instructed to expedite the process of completing the parts to the maximum extent possible before the end of the month.
Officially, the need for their buildings to cite assembly elections next month was cited as the reason. A principal of Aided College, requesting anonymity, said, “There is no clear information from the government on the resumption of in-person classes after the election.”
Teachers themselves are keen on the idea of re-starting online classes to complete theory passages after the election.
“More or less, more than 50% of the theory component can be completed from the latter part of November through individual classes for the semester. 20% used to complete more parts over the next two weeks Will go and there will be no problem in eliminating the rest through online classes, ”said KT Tamil Mani, Associate Professor of English, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti.
In general, teachers feel it is necessary to take safety precautions at this point, as students have become complacent about social disturbances and are moving into groups unaware of the risk of viral infection. In addition, they are conscious of their own vulnerability due to the age factor.
“We emphasize that students wear masks in classrooms and we also stock them when needed. But, as teachers, we face the inconvenience of teaching with masks, and there is also a need for expression, which is not possible with them, ”said David Livingston, zonal secretary, Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers Association.
