Cash, goods seized from chennai

Flying squads and static monitoring teams have seized cash and material worth ₹ 5.8 crore from 16 assembly constituencies in Chennai district after the election announcement.

According to data compiled by the Chennai District Election Office on Sunday evening, most cash and material were seized from 20 locations in the northern and central parts of the city.

On Sunday, ₹ 93,000 was seized from Virugambakkam assembly constituency in South Chennai.

On Saturday, 3,370 kg PDS rice bags were seized from Nelson Manikam Road in front of Ampa Skywalk Mall. The rice has been sent to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation.

On Friday, authorities seized 12.6 kg of gold from Anna Nagar assembly constituency. Gold worth ₹ 5 crore was sent to Perambur Pursavalam sub-treasury and the nodal officer concerned with income tax was informed. Most of the seized material in the city belongs to nine persons from the Harbor Assembly constituency.

On EVR Periyar Salai, authorities seized 2.6 kg of silver 10 days ago.

Perambur, Dr. Cash and material have also been seized from constituencies such as Radhakrishnan Nagar, Chepak Thiruvallikeni and Egmore.

Railway Protection Force personnel on Thursday seized ₹ 16.6 lakh in cash and 15.3 kg of silver from a passenger at MGR Chennai Central railway station. Officials said cash and material have been sent to the Fort Tondiarpet sub-treasury.
