Britain’s first North Nevada case is confirmed

Health officials have confirmed the first Northern Nevada case of the COVID-19 version that originated in the United Kingdom, and they are trying to determine if a large gathering-related infection in Washoe County may have spread to others is.

At least eight cases related to the UK version have already been confirmed in Southern Nevada. The first was in the Las Vegas area in late January. The new one was confirmed in Washoe County – which includes Reno and Sparks – including a woman in her 30s, whose infection has been linked to a mob of more than 60 people from several states, County Health District Officer Kevin Dick said Friday Announced late at night.

Seventeen additional COVID-19 cases have been linked to the same incident, although not all who tested positive are from Washoe County and it is not yet known whether they are infected with the UK version, Mr Dick said.

Additional genomic sequencing is underway, but many samples are not available for genomic sequencing, he said.
