Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP chief of state unit Jayant Patil, and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar separately in Delhi on Sunday evening in the wake of allegations of corruption by former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh. .
However, what happened during the meetings at Mr. Pawar’s residence could not be known.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Raut told reporters in Mumbai that the allegations of Mr. Deshmukh and Sachin Vej case against Mr. Singh had tarnished the image of the Maha Vikas government in the state.
Mr Raut told all allies – Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress – that introspection needed to be done if his “feet are on the ground”.
“Anil Deshmukh’s side also needs to be heard before taking any decision on that. We will decide on Deshmukh tomorrow. ‘
Jayant Patil, who is also the state’s water resources minister, said that the visit to Delhi was done three days ago.
“Pandharpur assembly by-election is scheduled next month. Ajit Pawar and I decided to meet party workers in Solapur district to know their views on the candidate’s selection and party strategy, and then met Pawar Saheb in Delhi with feedback before returning to Mumbai, ”he said.
“We are both in Pandharpur to discuss the by-election issues with party workers,” he said. The by-election is scheduled to be held on 17 April. This was needed due to the death of NCP MLA Bharat Bhalke last year.
‘Minister will not resign’
Meanwhile, Congress sources said that the central leaders of the party are in touch with the leaders of Maharashtra regarding Deshmukh. A Congress leader said on Sunday night that the Chief Minister was in touch with all the key leaders of the MVA coalition in view of Mr. Singh’s letter. “I don’t think Anil Deshmukh will be asked to resign, as it will amount to accepting the allegations leveled against him,” he said.
