BJP leader was reacting to UP Shia Waqf Board chief Wasim Rizvi demanding that he remove 26 verses from the Quran for allegedly “teaching hatred, violence and terrorism”.
Senior Patna BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court to remove former Quranic verses to Wasim Rizvi, the former chairman of the UP Shia Waqf Board, and said his party was against those who were against any religious scripture. Insult
Mr. Rizvi reportedly approached the SC and demanded the removal of 26 verses from the Quran for allegedly “teaching hate, violence and terrorism”.
BJP national spokesman Hussain said that Rizvi should not spoil the atmosphere of the country by indulging in such acts.
Mr. Hussain said, “I demand Wasim Rizvi’s removal of 26 verses from the Quran. It is my party’s favor that it is libelous to say absurd things about any religious scripture, including the Quran.”
The BJP is against those who insult any religious scripture.
Mr. Rizvi has moved the Supreme Court claiming to have removed 26 verses from the Quran, claiming that he promotes violence.
He said, “The BJP is not in favor of any change in the Quran or any other religious texts.”
Hussain said that the BJP does not accept Rizvi’s views as it hurts the sentiments of the people.
He said that Wasim Rizvi had no right to hurt the religious sentiments of the people.
