BJP condemns Shia leader Wasim Rizvi’s remarks about the Quran

The Shia leader approached the Supreme Court, seeking removal of 26 verses of the Quran.

The BJP on Saturday joined the search for a holy book center for Muslims around the world to remove 26 verses of the Quran to knock the door to the Supreme Court to condemn the Shia leader Wasim Rizvi, a Muslim religious organization based in the valley.

“We have filed a complaint [before the police] And want the accused to be dealt with vigorously. Valley BJP leader Manzoor Bhat said that no one will be allowed to speak against any community or their holy book.

Another BJP leader Altaf Thakur termed the remarks of the former president of the Shia Waqf Board as unacceptable.

“The Quran teaches love, brotherhood and peace, not violence. Mr. Rizvi said that the government should act quickly against Mr. Rizvi and arrest him for his slanderous remarks.

The BJP’s condemnation came after the alleged remarks made by Mr. Rizvi about the Quran by several Shia and Sunni religious bodies.

National Conference President and Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah said that Mr. Rizvi’s act is abhorrent. “The Holy Quran is the unblemished and unchanging word of Allah. The petition should not be considered; On the contrary, strict action should be taken against the Muslims living around the world to hurt the sentiments of them, ”Dr. Abdullah said.

“The move is deliberately aimed at inciting Muslims and feeding into the agenda of Islamophobes who are hostile to Islam and full of hatred. The Quran is a fountain-head promoting humanity, love, unity and harmony, a spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), a body of 24-groups.

Majlis-e-Ulama Imamia J&K, a group of Shia clergy who also demanded the arrest of a Shia leader.

“We strongly condemn the statement. This person has become a tool of enemies’ conspiracies against Islam and Shiaism. Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Masroor Abbas Ansari said that Indian Muslims have already expelled him and he has been excommunicated from Islam.

Kashmir’s grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam demanded the arrest of the Shia leader. “I urge people to maintain discipline, remain calm and file a protest in peace,” he said.

Mr. Rizvi reportedly approached the SC and demanded the removal of 26 verses from the Quran for allegedly “teaching hate, violence and terrorism”.
