The disputed Bihar Cricket Association, along with its registered first-class and List A players, is likely to face stringent sanctions from the BCCI for defying the parent body’s orders to stop the unregistered Bihar Cricket League (BCL). The BCL was held in Patna from 20–26 March. The five franchises in this tournament were Angika Avengers, Bhagalpur Bulls, Darbhanga Diamonds, Gaya Gladiators and Patna Pilots and aired on Eurosport Channel. Darbhanga emerged as champions in the finals played at the Diamonds Energy Stadium.
The BCCI sent a letter to the BCA on 23 March, in which they said without any uncertainty that their ‘T20 League’ has not been approved and should be stopped. However, the BCA officials did not pay attention to the BCCI and went ahead with the remaining games.
“We have reviewed the responses to your questions, and upon careful consideration, the BCCI has decided not to give its approval to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) to conduct its T20 domestic league cricket tournament (ie BCL), Because it does not meet / follow the instructions of the advisory and guidelines issued by the BCCI, ”Hemang Amin, acting CEO of the board, wrote to the state body clarifying its stand.
The BCCI, in its communication, explicitly asked the BCA to be ready to repeal the BCL or face sanctions in line with the constitution of the board.
“…… We appreciate the effort and continued effort of the BCA in building the cricket culture in the state of Bihar, and assure you that the BCCI will support the BCA, as a law. Accordingly, the BCCI will give you TCS Directs the cancellation of the domestic. League cricket tournament (ie, BCL), “it said. “In the event, the BCA does not cancel the ongoing T20 tournament (ie, BCL), the tournament will be considered a ‘rejected tournament’ in accordance with the BCCI rules and regulations and the BCA will be liable for sanctions in accordance with the BCCI rules. , “It said.
In recent years, on the recommendation of its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), the BCCI has decided to impose a cap on T20 leagues run by the state body after several cases of questionable ownership, unusual betting patterns have surfaced.
“What the Bihar CA officials have done has kept the careers of the young players in line with their disregard. What if the BCCI now bans the players as per Article 31 of the Constitution? The BCCI is also concerned that the BCA officials considered the board’s silence as a token of approval and pushed the tournament forward.

“With this backdrop in mind, please note that the BCCI has not given its approval to the BCA to operate the BCL. According to Article 31 of the BCCI Constitution, the rules have been violated:
31. Ban on participation in UNAPPROVED TOURNAMENTS
(1) No member shall make any kind of aid or participation in any unpublished tournament.

(2) No player, umpire, scorer, official or any person associated with the BCCI shall participate in any unexpected tournament.
(3) The Apex Council will take appropriate action including suspending and withholding the financial gain and any other action against the individuals / members mentioned above. BCA Supremo Tiwari could not be reached for a comment.
