The 2020-21 Big East season is set for a potentially bizarre conclusion this week.
Top seeded Villanova will try to win their fourth straight Big East tournament in five years after the tournament’s cancellation in 2020. The Wildcats will have to try the feat without Coleen Gillespie, however, the senior point guard is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn MCL. He may also accompany Justin Moore, who suffered an ankle sprain in the team’s regular season finale.
The two-seed Creighton split with Villanova but could be without coach Greg McDermott, who was suspended from all team activities after using racist action following the loss of Xavier to his team. UConn, returning to the conference after a seven-year term as an AAC member, will vie for its first Big East Conference title since 2011.

This is not to say anything about the COVID-19 epidemic, which has forced the cancellation and postponement of several games this year, not only in the Big East but across the country. Even players, coaches, universities, health care officials and a lot of efforts to reach this point of the season.
