Best Selling Tablet: The iPad continues to be the best selling tablet in the world - Eagles Vine
Apple has retained its position as the global leader in the tablet market at the end of Q2, 2021, according to a new report by Canalys. According to the report, Apple sold 14.2 million iPads globally and the share of the company at the end of the quarter stood at 36.3%.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has been on a roll when it comes to launching iPad models. Since March 2020 — around the time the world was struck down with the pandemic — Apple has launched four new models. These include two iPad Pro, one iPad Air and one ‘regular’ iPad model.
The Canalys report didn’t delve into which iPad models led to the overall high sales for the company.

After Apple, at the second position is Samsung. The South Korean tech giant has witnessed 13.8% annual growth with 8 million unit shipments at the end of Q2, 2021. The company stood at 20.5% market share.
Lenovo witnessed the highest growth in this quarter of 77.5%. The company shipped 4.7 million units in this quarter and captured a 12% market share.
Amazon and Huawei landed at fourth and fifth position with 8% and 5.9% market share respectively. Both companies witnessed a fall in the annual growth but there is a massive difference in the figures. While Amazon witnessed a de-growth of 1.5%, Huawei’s annual growth fell by 54%.

“The tablet market has truly put to rest all predictions of a slow demise,” said Canalys research analyst Himani Mukka. “We have now seen a fifth consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth and the industry has many reasons to be optimistic for the future,” Mukka added.
