Holders Bayern Munich captured a 6–2 aggregate victory in the final-16 second leg with a 2–1 win over Lazio in the Champions League quarter-finals. Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty from his second half replacement Eric Maxim Choupo-Motting before the DFT chip and doubled the advantage on the night. Lazio caught a consolation when Marco Parolo was hit on the head for a late free-kick from close range. “Winning is very important to us. It’s in our DNA that we want to win every game,” Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimich told Sky.
“We played with confidence even though it was not a great performance and it was annoying to concede a goal.”
His passage into the final eight has seen Bayern enter Barcelona’s quarter-finals of the 18 Champions League since the competition was eliminated from the European Cup.
Snow fell during the game at Allianz Arena, but Bayern made light work of the wintry conditions.
He extended his unbeaten run to 19 games in the Champions League in two years.
“We needed a good performance and we were out of the competition with a positive game,” Lazio coach Simone Enzagi told Sky.

Bayern were awarded a penalty on 31 minutes when Muriqi brought Leon Gortzka down in the area.
Upon review of the VAR, Lewandowski hit the resulting spot-kick.
It was the 39th goal in the Champions League and the 39th in the Poland League in all competitions this season.
Lewandowski defeated Lazio goalkeeper Pepe Reina for 67 minutes.
It was one of his final engagements as he and Thomas Mueller made way for Choupo-Moting and 18-year-old Jamia Musiala.
Less than two minutes later, David Alaba passed a pass for a snatch and fired at Reena.
Bayern were guilty of scavenging for eight minutes from the final whistle, when Andrea Pereira’s free-kick was headed by Mooriki’s replacement parole.

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi said the Italians played better than their first leg defeat, but admitted that “Bayern are probably the best in the world”.
