Veteran Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai among men and Deepika Kumari in the women’s section will lead the Indian recurve archery squad during this year’s Tokyo Olympics. Atanu finished second while Tarundeep finished third among all the three criteria. Tarundeep is a two-time former Olympian who represented India in 2004 and 2012 and will play his third Olympics in Tokyo.

Atanu, who has played in his second Olympics since 2016, said, “I am very happy with the way I went to trial and I am now sure for the Olympics. Deepika, who has already won the Olympic quota at the 2019 Asian Archery Championships, topped Monday’s trial.

This will be Deepika’s third Olympics after 2012 and 2016. Ankita finished second while Komolika Bari finished third.

The women’s recurve team is yet to achieve the Olympic quota and will get a chance in the final team qualification competition to be held in Paris from 18 to 21 June.

The trio of Deepika, Ankita and Komolika will represent India in that event and if they earn a quota they will represent India at the Olympics after Monday’s results.
