Assam Assembly Election | Modi, Sonowal call Assam false: Surjewala

Assam Assembly Election | Modi, Sonowal call Assam false: Surjewala

Comb. Politicians say BJP spent five years riding people with lies, big announcements

Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other BJP leaders flattering the people of Assam only to cheat.

The BJP leadership spent five years riding the people of Assam with lies and made big announcements with a vacuum.

“He made large-scale announcements for the development of Assam. The result has been zero, ”Mr. Surjewala told reporters in Guwahati.

He said that Assam took second place in the country’s development index when the Congress ruled the state five years ago, but the BJP-led coalition government pushed the state to the 20th position.

Claiming that “Assam is now recognized as the most unsafe place for women,” the Congress leader said that 80,794 cases of crime against women have been registered in the state in the last three years.

“The BJP has made Assam the center of child trafficking. Half of such cases in the country occur in Assam.

Mr. Surjewala also asked the Prime Minister whether he planned to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) after the Assam Assembly elections.

“Modiji had promised to implement CAA in West Bengal but said that his government would not implement it in Tamil Nadu. Why is he silent about Assam? Why is this a double standard? ”He said.

The Congress General Secretary also gave slogans to Mr. Modi and Mr. Sonowal for 20 mega projects worth ₹ 10,860 crore, which were in infancy for several years after his announcement.

“Modiji had promised the people of Assam that 59 out of 63.25 lakh rural families would get water under the Jal Jeevan Mission. But 56 lakh people are deprived of water even after three years, ”Mr. Surjewala reminded, also calling the BJP a“ stigma ”on the health of women and children.

“The National Family Health Survey states that 68.4% of children aged 6-49 months in Assam suffer from anemia in 2020, up from 35% in 2015,” he said.
