Social activist and Jan Sangram Parishad founder SR Hiremath has urged the Shivamogga police to immediately arrest those who attacked activist Girish Achar.
At a press conference in Shivamogga on Saturday, Mr. Hiremath said that Mr. Achar was fighting illegal activities in the district. He fought a legal battle against the illegal grant of forest land and received a favorable order from the courts. “Some people with vested interests kidnapped her and recently assaulted her in the matimana of Hosnagar taluk. Later, a false lawsuit was filed against him.
He also cast doubt on the role of the police in filing a false case against Mr. Achar. “The police should investigate the matter considering the CCTV footage of the incident and arrest all those involved,” he said.
