Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal bowed out of the ongoing Argentina Open after losing in the quarter-finals on Friday (local time). Spain’s Albert Ramos Vinolas defeated Nagle 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at the Court Guillermo Vilas. The first set was won by Nagle 6-4 and he looked to win another set to qualify for the semi-finals. But, the Spaniard did manage to change his fortunes and win the next two sets to win the quarter-finals and advance to the tournament.

On Thursday, Nagal won World no. 22 Christian Garinto at the Argentina Open and recorded the biggest career win.

In the second round clash, Nagle defeated Chile’s Gerinto 6-4, 6-3 to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament.

It was Nagal’s first win among the top 50 players. Nagle has faced top-order players such as Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem in the past.

He even managed to get the first set against Federer at the 2019 US Open. Nagle faced Thiem in the second round of the 2020 US Open.
